Tips on How to Make Camping More Enjoyable

Camping can be as basic or elaborate as you want, and the same could be said for the amount of enjoyment that you get from the overall experience.  It's up to you to customize your time in the outdoors based on your needs and preferences, and there are no rules that you need to go overboard in terms of roughing it.  Here are a few things that can you can do to make your time in nature more enjoyable and less stressful.

Camp During the Week

Aside from the height of the summer travel season, campsites are generally less-crowded in the middle of the week.  If you can avoid camping when sites are busy, then you will have more privacy, better access to amenities and a quieter experience overall.  You will also have more choices in terms of where to set up camp, and chances are that you won't have to go as far in order to find that perfect spot.

Bring Extra Lighting

A campfire, couple of flashlights and a headlamp are probably not going to provide you with enough light.  Consider bringing some LED lanterns or portable lamps that can be placed inside of tents or on tables.  They don't cost a lot of money, take up a lot of space, and you will be able to enjoy more activities thanks to having some extra light.

Get Creative With Food

You don't need to eat trail mix and canned foods all day long while you're in the wild.  You don't have to rely on fishing to provide you with your next main course.  The same could be said of hot dogs or hamburgers as well.  A happy stomach makes for happy campers, and use this as an opportunity to expand your wilderness culinary talents and get creative.  The possibilities are endless in terms of practical, easy and delicious meal options you can enjoy throughout your trip.

Get a Good Pillow

We tend to value the importance of having a good sleeping bag and pad, but we don't feel the same way towards pillows.  Bringing a good camping pillow can have a huge impact on the quality of sleep that you can enjoy, and many are designed to be portable while taking up minimal space.

Get a Camping Hammock

If you want to experience true comfort and relaxation while camping, you need to spend some time in a camping hammock.  They free you from having to be confined in your tent, they can double as chairs, and they make for the perfect way to lounge around and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.

These are just a few examples of little things that can make a big difference in the field.  Take some time to think about other other things that you can do in order to get the most enjoyment of your time in the great outdoors.
